Terms of Service

Last updated: 4 August 2026

1. What WayMate is

WayMate is a community discovery platform that helps travellers find and connect with other travellers on the same journey. WayMate is not a travel agency, chaperone service, escort service, or transportation provider. We do not employ, contract, supervise, or manage any traveller ("WayMate") listed on the platform. We only provide the tools for travellers to discover and message each other.

2. No identity or background verification

We do not verify the identity, criminal history, immigration status, medical fitness, or general trustworthiness of any user. Profile information (name, hometown, languages, bio, phone number) is entirely self-reported and unverified. Any trust signals shown on the platform (such as a "successful journeys" count) are based on unverified user activity and are not a guarantee of safety or reliability.

3. You are responsible for your own safety

All interactions, arrangements, and journeys coordinated through WayMate are solely between the users involved. WayMate is not responsible for the conduct, actions, omissions, reliability, or safety of any user, whether during messaging, in-person meetings, or travel. This applies with particular importance when arranging assistance for children, elderly parents, first-time flyers, or anyone who may need extra care while travelling — you are responsible for deciding whether a given WayMate is suitable, and for making your own arrangements to confirm this.

4. No guarantee of service

WayMate does not guarantee that any traveller offering to be a WayMate will show up, complete the journey, or provide any particular standard of care. Journeys, flight details, and availability posted by users are unverified and may be inaccurate, outdated, or cancelled without notice.

5. Paid accompany services

Some users may offer their WayMate service for a fee. Any such payment, and any agreement about what that payment covers, is made directly between the users involved. WayMate does not currently process payments, does not hold funds in escrow, does not mediate disputes about payment or service quality, and is not responsible for any loss arising from a paid arrangement between users.

6. Acceptable use

You agree to provide accurate profile and journey information, to treat other users respectfully, and not to use WayMate for any unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful purpose. We may suspend or remove any account or content at our discretion, including for suspected misuse or safety concerns.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, WayMate and its operators disclaim all liability for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the platform, your interactions with other users, or any journey or arrangement made through WayMate. The platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continuing to use WayMate after an update means you accept the revised terms.

9. Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent to the WayMate team through the app.
